Leffe Blond Belgian Ale {Beer Review}

Ok, I'm just going to start off with this... I LOVE IT! I randomly picked it off the shelf the other day and when I came home Brandon was so excited. He said this is a beer he would drink in France and it is one of his favorites. {and obviously we all know that if it happens in France, it is cool.}

As I poured it I could smell the sweetness in the beer already and new right then I was going to like this beer. At first sip it is sweet but then it has a little zing to it. But not so much that it overpowers the wonderful taste. I don't know how to describe it other than, it's a light blond ale but has a heavy feel to it as well. It reminds me of my dark beers that I love because of it's complexity in taste but it has a lightness to it because of the orange undertones.

This beer would be perfect with a good seafood dish but honestly, I love it just by itself. Good in hot or cold weather. I highly recommend Leffe Blond Ale. Go try it this weekend!!

A Guardian Angel Prayer

I don't talk about my faith on here much but today I wanted to share with you something special to me. Four years ago my husband and I joined the Catholic Church. We both grew up Protestant and truly love that we did. When we started taking the catechism classes we knew that God had brought us there for a reason and we were exactly where we needed to be. Combining our Protestant upbringing with our new Catholic faith truly gave us a new view of God's love and plan for us.
Zeke's baptism, one year ago. Ironically no one in the photo is Catholic other than Brandon, myself and the kids.

Now, I'm not saying that I know everything yet. I realize that their is a lot to learn within my new denomination but one thing that I truly love are the prayers that are written for us to recite and feel peace about when reading. One of my FAVORITES is a prayer for guardian angels. I say it often and thought I would share it with you so you can too.

Angel of God,
my guardian dear,
To whom God's love
commits me here,
Ever this day,
be at my side,
To light to guard,
rule and guide.
Amen

Have an amazing weekend!

Wine O' the Month {Cupcake Merlot}

The other night my blog {now real life} friend Allison came over for a play date with our kids and a little blog talk. She was super sweet and brought over a bottle of Cupcake Merlot!! I had actually tried it a few years ago but had forgotten how good it was. Cupcake Merlot is pretty tasty for the price. I picked up hints of cherry but honestly people, who am I to say what I picked up? I mean, I'm no wine connoisseur and I sure don't have a pallet for any wine over the price of $12. So that being said...it's good. You should totally try it yo.

Go check out Cupcake wines website. They actually have quite the line up of wines. I really want to try the white wine called Angel Food. Sounds heavenly {budum bum...I'm here all week folks}

Claymore Scotch Ale {Beer Review}

The other day I asked my friends on Twitter what beer or wine choices they love. I now have quite a few new drinks lined up, but the first came from my friend Jason. He told me anything from the Great Divide Brewing Company was great, so I moseyed on down to the liquor store and took a look at what the options were. Jason prefers the IPA, however, my last review was an IPA so I chose something I had never tried before, Claymore Scotch Ale from the Great Divide Brewing Co. in Denver, Colorado.
I had no clue what to expect, but let me tell you, I was pleasantly surprised! It is a dark beer that at first sip reminds me of Left Handed Milk Stout, however, it is not creamy like the milk stout. I picked up a coffee type after taste that I really enjoyed as well as a carmel undertone that is sweet, but not overly so.  The name has scotch in it and maybe it is just my mind playing tricks on me, but I really think it has a scotch{ish} taste to it.

At 7.7% alc. vol.  this beer is great for those cold winter nights because it makes you feel warm and relaxed...just what you need.

Try it this weekend and tell me what you think!!
